The Humanity Practice Weekly: Year-End Reflections: The Pivot, the Practice, and Five Truths We’re Carrying Forward

The Humanity Practice Weekly:

This year was tough. Not abstract tough. Real-life, show-up-anyway tough.

The world of work shifted. Expectations collided. DEI was weaponized, and it wasn’t about slogans—it was about survival. Many of us found ourselves navigating impossible tension: protecting our businesses while trying to protect our people.

In the middle of all of that, I made a purposeful pivot.

This year made one thing clear: forward momentum wasn’t going to come from doing more of the same.

I trusted what I was seeing—and I listened when Torin Ellis pushed me to show up out loud and was inspired John Graham Jr. wisdom. This moment didn’t call for polish or positioning.

It called for practice. That clarity became The Humanity Practice—a living, public practice grounded in one belief: we change the world of work one story, one conversation, one action at a time.

Before anything else, I want to say this clearly: thank you.

Thank you for staying in this work. Thank you for the conversations, the curiosity, the pushback, and the encouragement. Thank you for choosing to build something better—even when it would’ve been easier to disengage.

This year reaffirmed a few important truths:

1. Humanity isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s a leadership skill. The teams that stayed grounded were the ones that centered clarity, care, and trust.

2. Real change comes from practice, not pressure. Sustainable progress showed up through small, consistent behaviors—not urgency or performative moves.

3. Belonging is built in everyday moments. How meetings are run. How feedback is given. How decisions are made.

4. People want practical tools—not platitudes. What resonated most were things you could actually use.

5. This work is stronger when we build it together. Community turns intention into momentum.

And this is where 2026 gets exciting.

Next year won’t be about one launch or one initiative. It’s the year this work expands.

The Humanity Practice is just one part of what we’re building. There’s more coming—new ways to learn, practice, gather, and lead—designed for people who want work to actually work better.

We’ll be sharing it as it takes shape. In real time. Out loud. Not perfectly—but intentionally.

If you want practical ways to lead, work, and build without burning people out— If you’re looking for language, tools, and practices you can actually use next year— Follow along. Build with us. This is only the beginning.

Before we do, I’m going to step back and recharge. What we’re building next requires full batteries—and I’m honoring that.

We’ll be back on January 9th, ready to build, practice, and expand what this work can become.

I’m deeply grateful for this community and the role you’ve already played in shaping what’s next.

Wishing you rest, joy, and a meaningful holiday season. I’ll see you in the new year—fully charged and ready.

If you want to begin the year together, I’d love to invite you to EVOLVE—a space to reflect, reconnect, and enter the year with intention. The Humanity Practice is a proud sponsor. Check out the amazing Anna Morgan below and make sure to register before you log off.

With gratitude, Rocki
